With an expanding portfolio of humanitarian assistance and disaster preparedness, risk mitigation and recovery programs, we are currently seeking a Director of Operations at the Associate Principal level who has a passion for international development and humanitarian work to become a member of our growing and dynamic global International Development and Humanitarian practice area.

Job purpose:

Reporting to the Principal of the International Development and Humanitarian Assistance practice area, the Director of Operations, a member of the practice areas leadership team, is responsible for operational excellence across the rapidly expanding International Development and Humanitarian Assistance (ID) practice area at Miyamoto International. The Director will work closely with ID leadership and the company’s enterprise services to develop an effective, efficient, and results-driven operational platform. He/She will be responsible for day-to-day operations and oversight of the platform.

Miyamoto International views operations as an integral foundation of its programming; the Director of Operations will be an active change manager and is expected to contribute to strengthening the integration of all practice area operations with corporate enterprise services and programs by collaborating closely with various teams and fostering positive collaboration and alignment.

This is a role up the sleeves position and will require the ability to work effectively at a systems level and when necessary, dive into specific business processes to achieve maximum efficiency.

Some Key Responsibilities of the position are:

  1. Review, develop, and manage a strong, responsive operational platform
  2. Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the practice area’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated, and identify opportunities for improvement
  3. Manage process changes, enhancements, and modifications to facilitate implementation of new or improved business processes. Communicate to team members such changes and modifications using appropriate and effective communication and learning tool(s).
  4. Direct and mentor operation’s team members to ensure that they are motivated, engaged, and trained to fulfill their responsibilities to the required standard.
  5. Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments across all ID project locations.
  6. Build and manage reporting dashboards for project managers and leadership

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international relations/international development, business, or a related field. Masters degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience managing operational platforms (or multiple aspects of a platform) at the country and HQ level in a medium to large international NGO or business and,
  • a minimum of 3 years at the senior leadership position.
  • Excellent knowledge of enterprise services and synchronizing with programs.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Ability to maintain and manage corporate confidential information.
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated skills and motivation towards gender and cultural sensitivities, championing organizational and staff diversity and, upholding the organizational core values.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with USAID compliance and accountability system and procedures.

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
